is one of the best planned archeological relic
sites in the country and is a World Heritage site
under UNESCO.
The Sigiriya rock is the
plug of an extinct volcano and stands high above
the surrounding plain. On its top are the ruins of an
ancient palace complex - one of the seven World
Heritage Sites in Sri Lanka and one of the most
popular tourist destinations - considered by some
to be the eighth wonder of the world.
