Kandy  is the English name for the city of Maha Nuvara ( Senkadagalapura ) in the centre of Sri Lanka. It lies amidst hills in the Kandy Valley which crosses an area of tropical, mainly tea, plantations. With its Temple of the ( Buddha's ) Tooth, Kandy is a Unesco World Heritage Site.
